Why do we need a thing called “theology,” let alone a “systematic theology”? Isn’t a “biblical theology” eminently preferable if we are people of the Bible? Doesn’t systematic theology become speculative, esoteric, and even irrelevant to daily Christian life? Do I really need to know the difference between infralapsarianism and supralapsarianism in order to be a trained missionary or a good pastor or a faithful Christian?
